It is extremely important because not only are you going to invest a lot of money into this project but it also affects the resale value of your home. Once you have decided that you are going to remodel your kitchen and/or bathroom, you want the result to look and function exactly as you had in mind. An experienced designer can help you with custom designs and up to date trends. My company, Signature Design Center, which services Orange County, Los Angeles and surrounding areas, is one of many companies that does designer cabinetry. Kitchen and Bathroom Cabinets

There are two types of kitchen/bathroom cabinets, one that is framed and one that is unframed or frameless. Framed cabinets have each door and drawer surrounded by an outer frame. A center stile separates each door on two door cabinets and usually you can see a space between the drawers. Frameless cabinets have no stiles or outer frames. The doors cover the entire cabinet box so you have full, easy access to items in the cabinets.

Choosing your cabinet style will have a lot to do with the overall harmony of your home but easy to clean and comfortable. A designer will be able to help you made the right choices, as it can be overwhelming. Here are a few of several cabinet styles from which to choose:

1. French cabinets

2. European and Euro frame cabinets

3. Transitional cabinets

4. Art Deco

5. English cabinets

6. French country cabinets

Another consideration when planning your kitchen and/or bathroom is the type of wood and finish on the cabinets. Natural woods are wonderful and rich to look at and make outstanding cabinets. These are some of the many woods to consider when remodeling.

  • Alder and knotty alder
  • Birch/red birch/white birch
  • Pine/knotty pine
  • mahogany
  • Oak/white and white wash oak
  • Cherry
  • Walnut
  • Hickory
  • maple

The finishes on cabinets, as with furniture, can be stained, hand rubbed, lacquered, distressed, glazed and painted just to mention a few.

Cabinet refacing is another choice you can make instead of replacing. It will completely change the look of your old cabinets. They can also be adapted to fit new appliances, drawers, slides and pullouts among other changes.
