Chino Hills Sears (Great Outdoors) to Close

Sears Great Indoors Closes

Sears Great Indoors Closes, Chino Hills

Unfortunately many of our former colleagues are finding the current economy to be too difficult to maintain.   Sears’ Great Indoors in the Inland Empire is another casualty.   In many ways this is terrible news for employees in the industry, but in the end it is the consumer that will benefit from enhanced customer service.

CHINO HILLS – As the nation struggles with a souring economy, a slowdown in housing development, and more frugal consumers, The Great Indoors home improvement store is closing after reporting poor sales.

The Great Indoors, which sells upscale home hardware, furniture and decorations for home remodeling projects, will tentatively close on Feb. 4, said Kimberly Freely, a spokeswoman for the Illinois-based Sears Holding Co., which owns the store.

The Chino Hills store, which is now liquidating its inventory, announces its closure with a large banner across its front telling of sales of up to 30 percent off.

Todd Rubin, of Riverside, was there on Friday looking for a kitchen sink. He says he’ll return closer to the closure date, when he expects the retailer to slash already marked-down prices to 50 percent. (More Story)
