November Events in Orange County

When November arrives, we know the holiday season is upon us. Not only does this month bring us indulgence and fundraisers for local charities, there are also several arts and craft festivals, just in time for you to find some truly unique gifts for Christmas. Here’s a round-up of November events in Orange County.

Orange County Chocolate Festival

When: Nov 4-5
Where: Mile Square Park, Fountain Valley

This indulgent event is a benefit for the Fountain Valley Community Foundation and other local charities. The O.C. Chocolate Festival is “a big party” featuring the wares of about 70 chocolatiers, bakers, candy makers and wine vendors. General admission is $25 and includes eight chocolate tastings and three wine tastings. VIP tickets are available to for $50 and additional tastings can be purchased a la carte at the event.

OC Jewish Arts Festival

When: Nov 5- 19
Where: Merage Jewish Community Center of Orange County

The JCCOC in Irvine hosts its annual festival of film, books and theatre. An all festival pass includes admission to a performance by mentalist Eran Raven and all other special events. See website forcomplete event schedule and admission pricing.

The Blue Man Group

When: Nov 8-20
Where: Segerstrom Hall

The famed Blue Man Group brings its show to the OC Performing Arts center. This must see performance combines comedy, music and multimedia theatrics in an interactive party atmosphere for the whole family to enjoy.

La Palma Days

When: Nov 12
Where: La Palma

The north county city of La Palma celebrates its history and community at this annual festival featuring more than 40 vendors, activities for the whole family, a beauty pageant and the official Veteran’s Day Parade of Orange County.

The Christmas Company

When: Nov 17-20
Where: O.C. Fair Events Center, Costa Mesa

This annual fundraiser hosted by the Junior League of Orange County features a silent auction and retailers of hand crafted jewelery, clothing, and accessories, gourmet food and other artisan goods.special events include a Preferred Shopping Brunch, a Yoga event, a Girl’s Night Out, and more. Staser Fall Scholastic Chess Tournament

When: Nov 19
Where: O.C. Great Park

Scholastic chess players ages K-12 face off against each other in this open invitation Fall chess tournament. Space is limited and registration is required for participation. Contact American Chess Equipment for more information: amchesseq@aol.com

Sugarplum Festivals

When: Nov 10-12
Where: O.C. Fair Event Center

This arts and craft festival features jewelry, ornaments, antiques, beads, other handmade goods and artisan foods. Admission is free and while there is one more showing in December, the November festival is the big Christmas holiday show.

Kush Expo

When: Nov. 18-20
Where: Anaheim Convention Center

This is a trade show of all things medical marijuana, with everything from hemp clothing, paraphernalia and growing equipment, to free shuttle service to and from local dispensaries. There will also be doctors on site, as well as live musical performances, a Hot Kush Girl Contest, and a custom car show.

When: Nov 20
Where: Segerstrom Concert HallThe Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra returns to Orange County to start the fall concert season with “The Planets,” a space themed concert including “Star Wars” and other celestial inspired titles.

Thanksgiving Turkey Trot

When: Nov 24
Where: Dana Point

The Dana Point Turkey Trot is a 5k/10k race and part of the Southern California USATF Championship, 2011 Road Running Grand Prix Series. Proceeds from the race benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment Support Group. Participants can register by mail through Nov 12 and online registration is open until Nov 20. Last minute participants can register in person on the day of the event.
