Keep Your Kitchen Remodel Timeless

There are so many different ways to approach your kitchen remodel, but a timeless kitchen will always be beautiful. Whether you’re remodeling before a move or plan to live in your home for years to come, giving your kitchen an ageless quality can ensure you always love the look. There are a few pieces of your kitchen that can help create that “forever” look.

  • Fantastic Floors: Wood floors are definitely the most common. If you’re looking to make the room feel even bigger and more spacious, try to use the same flooring in the surrounding rooms and hallways. After wood, tile and cork are very popular for kitchen flooring. For a little extra, try getting the floors heated for your comfort!
  • Killer Cabinets: Your cabinets should pair well with the flooring. A nice gray or white color tends to go well with the wood flooring, but if you’re looking for a more woodsy feel, go with stained cabinets. If you decide to stain, make sure the cabinets and floors compliment each other in color. If your floor is dark, make sure your cabinets are light, and vice versa. It creates a nice contrast.
  • Titillating Tile: Tile doesn’t necessarily always have to be used for floor. It’s totally possible that, if you find a tile you like but have your heart set on hardwood floors, you can use the tile as a backsplash. Any nontraditional use of the tile can bring in a really nice finishing touch to your timeless kitchen.
  • Not-So-Crazy Colors: Picking a neutral color for the permanent parts of the kitchen (floors, cabinets, countertops, and backsplash) can lend to the timeless look. Accessorize with pops of color. For example, if your favorite color is purple, using it in the backsplash is probably not the best idea. Using it in décor that can easily be changed should you decide your favorite color is now turquoise… that’s a great idea.
